Case Study
Sarah Bonser - Head of Planning, Highways & Property
I undertook my training contract in a local district council. I worked on a variety of different matters from civil and criminal litigation, contracts, commercial property and local government law. The work I enjoyed most was planning agreements and advice and when I qualified I began to specialise in this area.
I joined Kent County Council in 2008 and began to undertake highways work in addition to my planning practice, advising on a broad range of highways matters.
In 2009/2010 I was fortunate to act as legal advisor in the promotion of a Private Act of Parliament – The Kent County Council (Filming on Highways) Act 2010. Attending Committees in the House of Commons and House of Lords is certainly a career highlight!
I have also been able to undertake a secondment to a district council and firmly believe that spending time getting to know our clients is the best way to ensure we are able to meet their needs.
In 2016 I was promoted to leading the Planning & Highways Team and am now the Head of Group for Planning, Highways & Property which includes both the Planning & Highways and Property Teams here at Invicta Law. My main practice area is planning and I advise on s106 agreements for developments of all sizes.
I am also the Training Principal and greatly enjoy training and mentoring our new recruits during the first steps in their legal careers.
