Atlanta Burgon is a Solicitor in our Employment, Privacy and Governance team, advising public sector employers on a broad range of employment law matters. She supports clients with both day-to-day employment issues and Employment Tribunal proceedings, working closely with them to provide pragmatic advice that reflects the realities of their organisations.

After completing an integrated Masters and LPC in Law at Northumbria University, Atlanta began a legal career in private practice as a conveyancing assistant. She later moved into the public sector as a Legal Assistant at Middlesbrough Council, where she spent a year before commencing her training contract with the Council. This 18-month period was largely focused on employment law, leading to her qualification as a solicitor in April 2024. Atlanta then gained further experience in private practice in Newcastle before taking a period of maternity leave. She has since returned to practice and to public sector work, joining Invicta Law.

Atlanta has experience acting for respondents in Employment Tribunal claims, particularly those involving unfair dismissal, discrimination and whistleblowing. During her training contract, she assisted with a complex five-day Employment Tribunal hearing that was successfully defended. She describes this as a “key learning experience”.

Atlanta is known for being clear, straightforward and realistic in her advice. She is approachable and easy to work with, and places real importance on being responsive and dependable. She aims to build strong working relationships with clients by understanding how they operate and providing advice that is accurate and tailored.

Having trained in the public sector and spent a short time in private practice, Atlanta was eager to return to public sector work. She has seen the difference that well-delivered legal support can make and is delighted to be contributing to that work as part of the Invicta Law team.
