Veronika Maresova
Solicitor
Veronika Maresova is a solicitor in the Community Care team, where her practice encompasses Court of Protection, deputyship, and a broad range of community care matters. She primarily advises and supports social workers with applications to the Court of Protection, including authorisations for deprivation of liberty and the defence of s21A challenges, while also handling wider issues affecting adults in need of care.
Veronika began her career as a social worker before qualifying as a solicitor, having completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and a training contract. She maintains her social work registration and, alongside her legal practice, serves as a Court of Protection Visitor. In this capacity, she visits and supports vulnerable adults and deputies, both lay and professional, drawing on her frontline experience to inform her legal work and approach.
Her background provides her with a practical understanding of the responsibilities faced by social workers, enabling her to deliver clear and effective support to clients and colleagues.
Outside of her legal role, Veronika co-founded Okénko, the Czech and Slovak school charity based in South West London. She speaks Czech as her mother tongue and is motivated by a commitment to safeguarding the rights of vulnerable people, both directly and by supporting those who care for them.
