This transition was far more than a simple rebranding effort; it signalled a fundamental shift in the local authority’s operating model from in-house council service to independent commercial enterprise.
An ABS license was granted by the Solicitors Regulation Authority in April 2017, and two months later, a freestanding company was launched. The company that is Invicta Law Limited is now part of Commercial Services Group which is ultimately owned by Kent County Council.
This independence meant Invicta Law could harness the collective expertise of its legal team to provide specialised legal services to public sector bodies across the United Kingdom.
Today, Invicta Law stands as a testament to the power of purpose-driven legal practice. It is one of the largest specialist public sector law firms in the country, serving a diverse range of clients across county, borough and district councils, schools, community organisations and blue light services.
The firm provides a consistent, cost-effective, client-centred service that extends across its four specialist service areas: Child Protection, Adult Social Care, Asylum and Employment. Each area represents not just a practice area, but a commitment to upholding the rights and wellbeing of the communities we serve.
